Short-Term Running Goals:

I would like to run an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon.

I would also like to run on one more international team before I pack it in!

 Stay healthy!  (My biggest challenge!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run my whole life, and then live vicariously through my children. (just kidding) , but I do want to pass on a healthy lifestyle to them.

Help coach East High to a state championship. (hope it doesn't take a lifetime!)

Personal:

I've been running since I was nine.  I'm married to a fellow runner who inspires and supports me.  We have two children:  Cole (4) and Lily (18 mos.)  I help Bill Cobler coach cross country at East High School.

Three mile warm up and strides. Really hood women's field today. My goal was sub 18, but I really struggled the third mile. I still have work to do. Marathon workouts tend to kill my speed, too. Sub 18 will have to wait for another day.

Nan and I went out together. Hit the mile in 5:48, and then Nan took off. I tried to use the downhill to pick up some time. Hit the second mile in 5:43. My legs felt pretty shot after that. I struggled through mile 3, trying to hold on to second. (6:13. ouch!) It's hard to maintain a fast pace when you're just trying to keep a place. 18:26. Not a bad time for the course, but I have better in me. But, my fitness has really improved over the last couple months. I just need to keep moving in the right direction.

Next year I get to double dip!

3 mile cooldown. I need to get a short run in later if I can muster up yhe energy.

solid race -- 5ks are tough during marathon training. unless you specifically taper for a shorter race, your legs are always carrying that load. clearly you have a lot of good speed based on those first two miles. it will keep coming together.

i'm impressed with your comeback and continued drive to race and improve. it gets harder and harder for me every year. hope to see you soon.
