Birthday run! (Well, my birthday is actually tomorrow. ) I dressed in my most flourescent colors and met Jenny at 5:30 for 18. We ran out 500E, lapped around Liberty Park, over to 2100s, up and around Sugarhouse Park, and back via Highland. 7:02 average. I was my usual graceful self and biffed it hard somewhere close to the 16 mile mark. I'm a bit torn up and there are blood flecks all over my running shorts. Besides that, I felt pretty good. I'm getting used to the 2hour plus runs.

So, I hit 75 this week. My highest week before St. George was 81. I'm still 12 weeks out from CIM. Any advice on how high I should build uo, without risking I jury or losing quality? I'm feeling pretty good at 75. I feel much stronger than last year.

I tripped over a sidewalk about a month ago - same deal: super embarrassing, all scraped up, etc. My left wrist still hurts!

I'll say the same thing I always tell you... your biggest concern is always just staying healthy. You did a great job staying healthy leading up to STG last year. The marathon is about the cumulative body of work over the 3-4 months before the race. If you can stack up a lot of 75 mile weeks and not cross the injury line, it's hard to know if running a little bit more would really be worth it for you.

happy birthday, emily.

great run yesterday, although i'm sorry about the spill. :0

really strong week of training. you've been smart about gradually bringing up the mileage up thus far, but this is where you have to start being really careful as you approach the highest mileage you've ever done. no doubt that the mileage helps, but you don't want to go off the cliff. i've fallen off on more than one occasion -- and all that training goes splat. if you feel good at 75, that may be the right range for you. if you can push it up and still feel good, even better. but once you start feeling flat, overly fatigued, and/or generally unmotivated, those are pretty good signs you've gone out of your sweet zone and into the danger zone.

you've stayed healthy up to this point, so i think you are doing it right and being smart. you know your body and you know what you're doing. just remember you still have a good amount to time to work with, and a down week (even a significant one) once or twice over the next 6-8 weeks could go a long way.

keep it up -- i know you have a lot to balance with kids, schedules, etc., but i love your dedication to this goal.
