I would like to run an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run my whole life, and then live vicariously through my children. (just kidding) , but I do want to pass on a healthy lifestyle to them.

Personal:

I've been running since I was nine.  I'm married to a fellow runner who inspires and supports me.  We have two children:  Cole (4) and Lily (18 mos.)  I help Bill Cobler coach cross country at East High School.

Standing at the starting line of the Half Marathon this morning, I glanced around at my competitors and thought, "Wow. I'm getting old." But, at 39 years old, I've got nothing to lose, so I embraced my Grandma status and raced as hard as I could. Conservative goal, sub 1:20. Medium goal, sub 1:18. Perfect day goal, faster than 1:16:24 (2013 time).

It was close to perfect. I ran 1:16:53. I had to stop for a bit at mile seven to cough up an inhaled shot block. That threw the race off slightly. But, overall, I am happy with my race. I got spanked by the first place girl, but she was much more fit. I'm glad I held on to second. I'm really close to my fitness level of 2013. TOU should be a good day.

Bonus: No blisters, (though I may lose a toenail.) And, I managed a cooldown this year. I think my recovery will go much better than last time I ran. Still not looking forward to stairs tomorrow.

Tried to run. Only made it around the block. Hurt bad. Gave up.

Tried running again. First mile was a hobble, but it smoothed out. Felt much better by the end. I have one really sore spot in my right quad. Hope it goes away and doesn't develop into anything serious. Light running through the rest of the week. 7:53 average.

Met Becca at Cottonwood High. We ran to Wheeler Farm and ran a couple of loops. Legs are feeling better every day. I was glad to get some nice soft surfaces in. 7:41 average. Mid-long tomorrow. Hopefully the will be mostly back to normal next week.

Jogged down to the JRT to meet Becca. Got busy talking and didn't pay much attention to mileage. When I got home, I had hit 11 miles. My legs were feeling fatigue, so I might have run a little too long. But, the legs are improving. I will probably feel residual achiness for about another week. 7:26 average.
